Kyle Busch took home the checkered flag at the Capital City 400 on Saturday. The race at Richmond International Raceway was the second Saturday in the 2012 Sprint Cup Series and the third short-track race in the past four races.
Bay Area driver A.J. Allmendinger finished in 16th place, which wasn't the ideal result but was markedly better than last week's 32nd-place finish. The short track continued to be unkind to fellow Bay Area driver Jeff Gordon, who finished in 23rd place.
Allmendinger jumps two spots in the Sprint Cup standings, to No. 21 overall, while Gordonalso managed to pick up enough points to climb a spot and now sits at No. 17. There's still plenty of time left in the season for both men to make a run at the top 10.
There was a bit of controversy on one of the restarts, with 83 laps remaining. Jeff Gluck at SB Nation explains the situation far better than I could, so click through to read about that.
