Big Sur Marathon 2012: Weather Forecast, Road Closures And More

The 2012 Big Sur International Marathon takes place on Sunday. The annual 26-mile run will stretch from Big Sur to Carmel along Highway One, with plenty of other festivities taking place over the course of the day.

It should be typical Central Coast weather on Sunday morning. The various races will have start times between 6:30 a.m. PT and 9:00 a.m. PT, with the actual marathon itself beginning at 6:45 a.m. PT. Temperatures will be in the low 50s at that time and partly cloudy, with a 20% chance of precipitation. Things will warm up throughout the day, with temperatures in the high 60s by noon as the races wind down.

Highway One will be closed to vehicle traffic from approximately 6:30 a.m. PT until approximately 1:00 p.m. PT.
