The 2012 Daytona 500 has been filled with unexpected happenings going through the entire race week and it looks like it might end with the unexpected. At turn three of Lap 160, Juan Pablo Montoya went into a slide and crashed into a jet dryer. As the video shows, flames erupted.
As you can see from this GIF, the fuel resulted in a wall of flames along the track. The fire has since been put out, but the flames created quite a bit of damage in the turn. Montoya's car was put out as well and he looks to be OK.
Here is one more GIF of the insanity:
Dave Blaney had the race lead when the crash happened and if they do not restart the race, he will take home the abbreviated title. Landon Cassill is sitting in second place, Tony Raines in third and David Gililand in third and Matt Kenseth in fourth.
