Logan Couture leaves Swiss team

The San Jose Sharks forward left his team overseas after 22 games due to personal reasons.

Logan Couture has decided to leave the Switzerland team Genève-Servette for personal reasons, making the forward the third San Jose Sharks player to recently depart from his his overseas squad. T.J. Galiardi left Germany after suffering a minor knee injury and Antti Niemi ended his stint in Finland.

Couture and his agent John Thornton both said that Couture is in shape and ready if the NHL season takes place. In Switzerland, Couture played in 22 games, scoring seven goals and dishing 16 assists for 23 points.

In his three seasons with the Sharks, the 23-year-old has 68 goals and 62 assists for 130 points. In 2011-12, Couture recorded a career-high 34 assists and 65 points.

San Jose finished the past season in second place in the Pacific division and seventh in the Western Conference with 96 points before suffering a first-round loss in four games to the St. Louis Blues in the playoffs.
