Diamondbacks interested in Giants' Aubrey Huff

The Arizona Diamondbacks are targeting the former San Francisco Giants first baseman as a free agent addition this offseason.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have expressed interest in free agent Aubrey Huff, who spent the past season with the San Francisco Giants.

The Giants bought out Huff's contract for $2 million after declining his $10-million option for next season. In 52 games during San Francisco's World Series run, Huff hit .192 with one home run in 52 games. He was also an integral component of the team's championship in 2010 when he averaged .290 and hit 26 homers.

Arizona is hoping Huff can play at either corner of the infield, where they currently have only three players on the roster in Paul Goldschmidt, Chris Johnson and Willie Bloomquist. Huff's range, however, has declined after a knee injury and he hasn't played third base since 2008.

The Diamondbacks finished this past season at an even 81-81, good for third in the NL West. Fielding-wise, Arizona was the seventh-best team in baseball with a .985 fielding percentage.
