Oakland Raiders fullback Marcel Reece and kicker Sebastian Janikowski were each selected as alternates to represent the AFC in the 2013 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced on Wednesday.
Reece was perhaps the most deserving of a full roster spot, filling in nicely in the absence of Darren McFadden and carrying the ball 59 times for 271 yards on the season. In addition to the ground game, he showcased his talent as a capable receiver out of the backfield, catching 52 passes for 496 yards and one touchdown.
Janikowski made 31 of 34 field goal attempts and had a season-long 57-yard field goal to lead the Raiders in points scored.
Not one member of the Oakland Raiders is on the regular roster for the 2013 Pro Bowl. At 4-11 and third place in the AFC West, Oakland hasn't had anything positive to draw upon when it comes to the team's ranking on both sides of the ball. They are the league's 29th ranked offense, scoring a meager 17.9 points per game. The defense hasn't been any better, allowing 27.9 points per game and ranked 30th.
