Week 16 fantasy sit/start: Niners may not be much help in fantasy championship week

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

In this, the most important week in the fantasy football season, the Niners face the unenviable task of traveling to Seattle to take on the hottest team in the NFL.

Well folks, this is it. this is Championship Week. All your drafting, planning, roster moves, hoping and praying have come down to this. The Niners go to Seattle this week and play a team they narrowly beat earlier in the season, a Seahawks team which has put up 50 points in back to back games. It's safe to say they will not be scoring anywhere close to that number against the Niners, but are there any fantasy worthy players for the Niners this week?

I'm inclined to say no. If you have a better matchup with someone you can start over a Niner, you might consider doing so. I understand that the Niners dismantled a Bears team with a highly regarded defense, but that team has serious issues and right now Seattle is firing on all cylinders. When Green Bay went to Seattle earlier in the year and played in prime time, they were embarrassed and played poorly. The same thing may happen to the Niners this week. The championship game isn't the time to be taking chances. Seattle is legit and could very well win the game. Don't count on the Niners to bring you a fantasy trophy this season.
