The 49ers and Saints are all square after one quarter of play.
The San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints are tied, 7-7, after the first quarter at New Orleans' Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
San Francisco (7-2-1) opened the scoring when quarterback Colin Kaepernick scampered seven yards for a touchdown with 7:21 left in the quarter. That capped off a four-play, 62-yard drive that took 2:06 off the clock. The Saints (5-5) answered with a six-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees to David Thomas at the 1:45 mark. New Orleans marched 79 yards in 10 plays and erased 5:32.
Kaepernick was a perfect 4-of-4 in the quarter for 82 yards, and he also gained 11 yards on three rushes. Mario Manningham caught three passes for 56 yards in the quarter for San Francisco.
Brees was 8-of-9 for New Orleans, passing for 73 yards. Mark Ingram picked up 13 yards on five carries, and Joseph Morgan hauled in one pass for 33 yards.
