Should Warriors replace Klay Thompson in the starting lineup?

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

After some poor shooting and even poorer decisions, it may be time for Golden State to start Jarrett Jack over Klay Thompson.

With Klay Thompson's poor start to the season, CSN Bay Area's Matt Steinmetz thinks it might be time for the Warriors to bring him off the bench. The second-year shooting guard has struggled this season, and there are capable hands available to run Golden State's offense.

Making just one-third of his shots on the season, the former Washington State Cougar has yet to live up to the promise he showed on the team last season, when he scored 12.5 points per game in just 24 minutes. While his workload has increased to 34 minutes per game, his scoring average has failed to eclipse 14 points per game. His 3-point percentage has dropped more than 11 percentage points, from .414 to .306, and Steinmetz points out that Thompson has taken some bad shots late in games.

If Thompson is benched, the clear move is to slide Stephen Curry from point guard to shooting guard and have veteran Jarrett Jack handle the point. Curry's naturally a 2-guard and Jack is in his eighth season in the league. Whatever the Warriors do, Klay Thompson will have to shoot better to justify the minutes he is being given.
