Giants rumors: Angel Pagan drawing interest, could return to San Francisco

Christian Petersen

Pagan had one of his best seasons yet with the Giants in 2012. Now a free agent, could he return to the Bay in 2013?

The free agent market across baseball is pretty thin this offseason. Angel Pagan is one of the better outfielders out there, and he's coming off a fine season with the Giants that saw him become a World Series champion.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Giants are one of many teams that have shown interest in the 31-year-old outfielder. Rosenthal lists the Rangers, Reds, Rays and Indians as teams all known to be looking for outfield help, and other clubs such as the Braves and Phillies could also be interested if other options fall apart.

The biggest determinant for which team lands Pagan will likely be cost. The veteran outfielder is known to be looking for a multi-year deal, and he could command anywhere from $7 million to $10 million a season. That's a steep price tag, but one a team will certainly come close to paying once the hot stove really starts to heat up.

Pagan batted .288/.338/.440 last season. He's a .281 hitter with a .757 OPS over the course of 695 career games.
