Athletics not worried following ALDS Game 1 loss

Rick Osentoski-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The A's dropped Game 1 of the ALDS to the Tigers and their ace, Justin Verlander. But they aren't freaking out just yet.

The Oakland Athletics are down a game in the ALDS, and now have to win three out of four games to advance, but their players aren't about to give up. The A's have played the role of underdog all season, and made an enormous comeback to win the division and just to be in this spot. Coming back from one game seems small compared to what they have already accomplished.

Oakland right field Josh Reddick said just that to reporters following the loss, according to CSN Bay Area:

"We're not worrying," Reddick said. "We've done well against people all year when we go down one game. We're not going to fret over it and panic. We can steal one out of here tomorrow and go back home where the crowd has been good and we've played good the last month."

The A's send left-hander Tommy Milone to the mound in their bid to even the series on Sunday. If Oakland can steal a game in Detroit, the rest of the series will set up nicely. The final three games will be played in Oakland if they are all necessary. With that kind of schedule, it's no wonder the A's aren't all that worried about whether or not they can overcome their 1-0 hole.
