Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
The Oakland Athletics will send Jarrod Parker to the mound for Game 1 of the ALDS against Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers, with Tommy Milone starting Game 2 and potentially Brett Anderson in Game 3 and A.J. Griffin in Game 4.
Here's a breakdown of the pitching matchups between the Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers.
In Game 1, Jarrod Parker will go to the mound for the A's, posting a 3.47 ERA and striking out 140 batters. Parker also is coming in on a hot streak, winning his last four decisions as well as six of his last seven. Justin Verlander will be pitching for the Tigers; he's posted a 2.64 ERA with a 17-8 record.
In Game 2, Tommy Milone will be pitching for Oakland. Despite only winning 13 games and losing 10, Milone posted a 3.74 ERA. Milone, who came over from Washington for Gio Gonzalez, will be facing Doug Fister, who has posted a 3.45 ERA and gone 10-10.
Susan Slusser reports that Brett Anderson might be ready to start Game 3. In Game 3, it will probably be Anderson facing Anibal Sanchez, and Game 4 it will be A.J. Griffin for Oakland against Max Scherzer. Game 5 figures to be a Parker vs. Verlander rematch.
