Donaire vs. Nishioka: 'Filipino Flash' representing Bay Area in Carson

The Bay Area will be represented in the boxing world on Saturday night, as Nonito Donaire takes to the ring.

San Mateo-resident Nonito Donaire will fight Japan's Toshiaka Nishioka in Carson, Calif. on Saturday night. Donaire hasn't lost a bout since 2001, and is on a 28-fight winning streak. Donaire puts that streak and his super bantamweight championship on the line.

Born in the Phillipines, the 29-year-old Donaire possesses a 29-1 record overall with 18 knockouts. His opponent, Nishioka, is 36 years old and has tallied a 39-4-3 record with 24 knockouts. The southpaw Nishioka has won 16 consecutive fights since March of 2004. This will be Nishioka's first fight since October 2011.

The card will also feature Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios taking on Mike "Mile High" Alvarado. Both men are unbeaten in their careers. Rios is 30-0-1 with 22 KOs, while Alvarda is 33-0 with 23 KOs.
