Giants vs. Dodgers, series preview: Rivals clash to conclude regular season

Cary Edmondson-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

These long-time rivals get one more crack at each other at Dodger Stadium.

Most were hoping that this final series between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers was going to be a battle for the NL West. Instead it will be more of a victory lap around Chavez Ravine for the Black and Orange after clinching the division last Saturday. Nevertheless, the Dodgers aren't mathematically eliminated from a playoff berth yet, so the Giants must be ready to bring their A-game against this hungry Dodgers squad.

L.A. is on a five-game winnings streak, just two games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the final NL wild card spot. San Francisco took two of three from the Padres in San Diego, including a homer-filled, come from behind affair by the tune of 7-5 on Sunday. San Francisco is planing to utilize their starters to keep them fresh for the playoffs, meaning it's going to be a showdown in tinsel town the next three days.
