Tiger Woods has committed to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February, the first tournament he will play in 2012.

Tiger Woods is looking to get himself finally back in the saddle in 2012 after breaking through with his first victory in over two years at the Chevron Challenge back in early December. Tiger wants to pick up where he left in in 2011, which is why he plans to start his season this year at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, a course where he has had much success at over the years.

Per The Golf Channel's Jason Sobel on Twitter:

Tiger hasn't played in this tournament since 2002, but has won it on multiple occasions and is a course he knows very well and has had lots of success on. The spot of his 2000 U.S. Open victory when he blew away the field, finishing at -12 and breaking the record for margin of victory in a major on the Tour, not to mention his 200 Pro-Am victory there as well where he rallied from five shots behind with seven holes to play to eventually take the win.

Tiger is excited to be back in action at Pebble, as well as working with one of his foundation's sponsors in AT&T.

I'm excited to start my PGA Tour season at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. AT&T is a great partner to my Foundation, and I'm looking forward to playing in this event. I haven't been to this tournament lately, but I have a lot of good memories at Pebble. It will be fun going back."

There will be some changes since Tiger has played this tournament last, including the field reduced from 180 pros and amateurs to only 156, as well as the addition of the Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club instead of Poppy Hills Golf Course in the three-course rotation, which also includes the famed Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill Golf Courses.

"I've never played Monterey Peninsula and am looking forward to it," Woods said. "From all I've heard, it's a wonderful course and the greens are fast.

This could be a resurgent year for the former No. 1 in the world, and it could all start in the Bay Area this February.
