2012 NCAA Tournament Bracketology: Stanford, Cal, St. Mary's Earn Berths

All of the three major Bay Area teams are projected to dance this offseason. Only one could end up with preferential seeding though, based on Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology projections.

The St. Mary's Gaels earn a fifth seed in this latest projection. They would play the 12th seed Iona in their latest bracket and would then face the winner of UNLV/Long Beach State. Not at all a bad draw for St. Mary's to try and get to the Sweet 16.

The Stanford Cardinal have less luck. Stuck in the underacheiving Pac-12, they're slated at the 9th seed, which would put them up against Alabama in the first round and Duke in the second. Not a very easy path. Their rivals the California Golden Bears don't fare much better, getting a 10th seed and drawing a Marquette-Kansas road to the second weekend. Not at all easy paths for the Pac-12 to make it to the second weekend.
