Coming of a much needed series win in Miami, the San Francisco Giants head to Atlanta for a four game set with the Braves. Both teams are vying for playoff spots, and with the pitching on both of these teams it should be quite the competitive set this week down in Georgia. The San Francisco Giants can almost see the finish line to their regular season but have to get through this southern stretch of road games before that as they roll into Hotlanta for a four game series with the Braves. Both the Giants and Braves are looking up in their respective standings to other clubs and are trying to make a serious playoff push.
This is a very important series for the Giants after losing four of their last five of them, and may be riding some momentum after taking the series down in Miami against the Marlins. The Giants play 32 of their last 42 games will come against teams currently below .500, meaning series like this with the Braves are going to be very important down the stretch.
Winners of seven of their last 13, Atlanta has a domineering lead in the NL Wild Card, led by their outstanding pitching at guys like Dan Uggla going on 33 game hitting streaks, meaning the Giants are going to have to do a lot of work to catch them in the wild card, and most likely will have to take the NL West to have a chance at the playoffs.
