Oakland A's Jemile Weeks to Throw to Brother Rickie During Home Run Derby

Stay connected for news and updates

Even though the Oakland A's aren't going to be represented in the 2011 Home Run Derby per se, there will be a member of the Green and Gold out on the mound for Monday night's festivities, but not who you think it is.

A's second baseman Jemile Weeks will throw to his brother and current Milwaukee Brewer Rickie Weeks during the Derby, hopefully trying to spark some backyard, brother vs. brother competition like the days of old. Rickie is amongst the leaders in home runs in the National League thus far with 17, and hopefully can get some meatballs from Jemile that he can send into the scorching Arizona atmosphere.

Usually players in the Derby use the coaches from their respective teams that throw batting practice to them before games, but Weeks decided to take another route and show some love to his little brother, as well as giving his a taste of the All-Star Game. The Yankees Robinson Cano will take a similar route, having his father throw to him.
