Wrestlefest 2011: Celebrate The Memory Of "Macho Man" Randy Savage

For those that are unaware, earlier today word got out that former WWF world champion Randy "Macho Man" Savage was killed in a car accident in Tampa, Florida. Savage suffered a heart attack while at the wheel of his Jeep and veered off the road and into a tree.

In a bit of coincidental timing, the Bay Area will be hosting a wrestling convention known as WrestleFest 2011 on Saturday May 21 that was going to include Savage's brother Lanny Poffo (Savage's given name was Randy Poffo). Lanny has withdrawn from the event due to the death of his brother.

The convention will still take place in Newark, California and feature an All-Star roster of talent on hand to meet fans and put on a live card. I'd imagine the show will be put on in Savage's memory given the huge impact he had on professional wrestling. The event will take place at Newark Pavilion on 6430 Thornton Avenue. The convention runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm and the live card follows at 7:30pm. You can still purchase tickets for the event at the WrestleFest 2011 website. The link allows you to purchase tickets to get autographs and attend the live card

The card for the event includes:

Jason Styles & Ryan Von Kool vs.
Kevin Nash & X-Pac

Amber O'Neal & Sassy Stephie vs.
Sara Del Rey & Davina Rose

The Nasty Boys vs.
Dustin Ardine & Vinny Poochanelli

Victor Sterling vs. Tony Vargas

Kimo & Tony Atlas vs.
Hopsing Lee & Chico Navarro

Honky Tonk Man vs Shane Kody
