Frank Gore Injury Update: 49ers Running Back Bruises Knee, Does Not Have MRI Taken

Frank Gore's knee injury appears to be less seriously than previously imagined when the star running back missed the second half of Sunday's game against the Giants. Gore bruised his knee and did not have an MRI taken.

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore suffered a knee injury during Sunday's 27-20 win over the New York Giants that kept him out of the second half. Though Gore's past injury woes logically pave the way for alarm, his present condition appears to be fine. Matt Maiocco of SportsNet Bay Area reports that Gore merely suffered a bruise and did not have an MRI taken.

The news bodes well for the 49ers, who would like to have their star running back as healthy as possible during the season's second half. The team managed only 77 rushing yards without Gore but still came away with a win over the Giants.

Maiocco also reports that Gore was walking fine on Monday. Gore appears to be fine, and Sunday's second-half holdout could have merely been a precaution to avoid any further knee discomfort. Barring a major setback, Gore should be optimistic about playing in next week's game against the Arizona Cardinals
