Shane Vereen, Keenan Allen Dominate Cal's Season Opener

New starting running back Shane Vereen scored 3 touchdowns, true freshman Keenan Allen added two scores, and the California Golden Bears coasted to a 52-3 victory over the UC Davis Aggies. Vereen rushed for a modest 67 yards on 14 carries, but also added 28 yards on 2 receptions. Allen was the star though, averaging 30 yards per catch and making some spectacular runs against overwhelmed Aggie defensive backs.

Kevin Riley was 14 for 20 for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns and never was seriously threatened, and the Cal run defense held the Aggies to 14 rushing yards on 19 carries (and only 82 yards overall for the entire game).
