Stanford Wing Andy Brown Tears ACL Again, Out For 2010-11 Season

Stay connected for news and updates

For the third time in two years, Brown will be sidelined by the same injury that has kept him from being one of the stars on a budding Cardinal basketball squad.

Brown, a 6-foot-8 forward from Yorba Linda, suffered the injury last week while playing a pickup game at Stanford. "I was just dribbling and went baseline and got cut off and stopped," Brown said. "When I pushed back, it kind of popped out again."

An all-state player from Mater Dei High, Brown first tore the knee ligaments in his senior season in January 2009. The knee gave away again on the first day of Stanford's practice last season.

Brown, expected to be a big contributor as a wing this season, has scheduled surgery for Sept. 16.

It's just real tough news for a guy who can't catch a break physically, and you hope to see him return to his best next year.
