In a recent press conference, 49ers head coach Mike Singletary added some clarity to a few injuries. Rookie sixth round wide receiver Kyle Williams limped to the sideline early in the game after looking sharp on both kick and punt returns (and snagging a pretty good catch on offense) and didn't play the rest of the game. Singletary confirmed today that it was a toe injury, a sprained big toe, and that he'd be evaluated in just a couple weeks.
Veteran cornerback Will James (first year with the 49ers) was helped off the field and eventually taken off in the cart has an ankle sprain and will be out four-to-six weeks, according to Singletary. James is currently battling for a roster spot against fellow veteran Karl Paymah and rookies Phillip Adams and Patrick Stoudamire. James appears to be a proven commodity, however, and the injury doesn't necessarily end his tenure as a 49er.
Tight end Vernon Davis had a right knee strain and was day-to-day on his injury. He'll probably be limited next Sunday if he plays at all. Singletary said his knee "looked strong."
Other snippets included bits about linebacker Ahmad Brooks being back on the bike, with a pending evaluation in a couple of weeks, and that NaVorro Bowman missed Sunday's game due to soreness in his shoulder, which shouldn't keep him out for next Sunday's game. Linebacker Patrick Willis and kicker Joe Nedney were given the day off with minor nicks and soreness.
