The Golden State Warriors recently acquired big man, power forward David Lee, suffered a finger injury Tuesday while practicing with Team USA and is expected to be unable to play for the next six weeks according to AOL Fanhouse’s Chris Tomasson.
The tendon injury, termed ‘mallet finger’, is a deformity of the finger caused when a tendon is damaged.
“We’re very disappointed as much for him as for us,‘’ said USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said of Lee, who flew to California to be examined Wednesday morning by Warriors Dr. Bill Green. "He wanted to play right now. He wanted to come back right now but there’s no way we would allow him to do that because he’s not going to have surgery. And the splint will take care of it. But he has to be in a splint for about six weeks. Because, if he did play and he hit that finger again, that would be surgery. So we’re not going to do that.’’
The head coach of Team USA, Mike Krzyzewski, said that Lee was really looking forward to representing the United States in Turkey this Summer.
“I feel badly for him because he really wanted to play,‘’ Krzyzewski said. "He even said, ’Coach, I’ll see the doctor. I’ll even pay the expenses of a private plane to get me down here.’ I felt bad for him. Last summer, he was going through contract (negotiations while with New York) and he couldn’t play then. … He’ll be fine for the NBA season even for (the start of training camp).’’

Fans over at Golden State of Mind are cautiously optimistic about the reported David Lee sign-and-trade coming soon after Lebron James’ decision to switch area codes:
it’s probably the least outrageous contract given out so far.
we had to give up someone good to get someone good. Losing Randolph and the potential he represents hurts and will hurt for some time. But he was like the problem child with a high IQ who aced every aptitude test but couldn’t follow class rules or do his homework. The potential was great, yes, but potential does not equate to greatness, a la Catcher in the Rye.
Lee will be good for us, a polished, athletic player who hustles, boards, has a decent post game and shoots well. I’m stoked.
I don’t understand how we had to give up so much
Is Randolph not enough? We give up a great backup center, leader and fantastic lockeroom presense in Ronny . Then we give up a 15 pt scorer, a great shooter, good defender and rebounder in Azubukie Why weren’t Radmanovic and Gadz or Bell swapped in

After an interminable Jim Gray interview, LeBron James was finally able to announce his decision, and will be heading to Miami to play with the Heat in the fall. The importance of this for the Warriors is that they can now consummate the trade that would send Anthony Randolph, Kelenna Azubuike and Ronny Turiaf to the Knicks in exchange for David Lee. We’ll keep an eye out for this deal.

Chad Ford of ESPN.com reports that Lee’s agent Mark Bartelstein is refuting the reports out of the Bay Area that Lee to the Warriors is a done deal:
“There are a million things going on right now,” Bartelstein said. “We are still talking to five different teams about different scenarios. David hasn’t made up his mind and nothing has been agreed to. I’m not sure where all of this stuff is coming from.”
Is Bartelstein just blowing smoke right now?

Again, this deal is only going through if LeBron James does not sign with the Knicks. Marcus Thompson of Inside the Bay Area reports:
The Warriors and Lee have all but agreed in principle to a six year deal totaling about $80 million, team sources told me. At an average of about $13 million per year, Lee would become the Warriors highest-paid player. If he signs it.
Check for reaction on this decision at the Golden State of Mind thread discussing this news.

The moment LeBron James makes his decision, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports.
Berger says that deal is done in principle. It would go through under the condition that LeBron signs somewhere other than New York. Lee would go to Golden State in a sign-and-trade for Anthony Randolph, Kelenna Azubuike and Ronny Turiaf.
Warriors fans, what do you think? Ready to give up two bigs for one of the patented D'Antoni offense All-Stars? (Nothing against Lee, but it's hard to tell how good anyone is in that system.

According to Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group, he as a little more to the potential trade for Knicks forward David Lee.
BTW, I heard the deal is Randolph, Turiaf and Buike for David Lee
It will be interesting to see how it develops with center Ronny Turiaf and guard Kelenna Azubuike now involved.

If the big “IF” to the Anthony Randolph/David Lee trade is contingent upon LeBron James move to New York, then Atma Brother #1 believes it ain’t happening:
LeBron is going to be a New York Knick tomorrow at 6pm PST.
No doubt about it.
GSoM’s Atma Brother #1 breaks down quite concisely why we should stop hyping ourselves up. Click here for the reasons.

Golden State Warriors beat writer Marcus Thompson II hits us with breaking news that the Warriors are trying to work out a deal with the New York Knicks to extract David Lee for Anthony Randolph and some additional filler. Thompson II also says that the Nets and Timberwolves may want some of this action.
Of course, all this is contingent upon whether LeBron James ends up with New York (as all signs from LeBron's celebrity friends on Twitter seem to think it's a wrap):
If James announces he's decided to play anywhere but New York, the Warriors are in play for Lee. The Warriors are one of a few teams in the mix for Lee via a sign-and-trade with the Knicks. And the Warriors have an offer the Knicks favor, a team source said.
See what Warrior fans over at SB Nation Warriors Blog, Golden State of Mind, think about this move. Also, see Golden State of Mind editor Atma Brother #1's opinion of the rumored 3-way trade proposal circulating last week that would have landed us Minnesota Timberwolves' Al Jefferson and had us moving Monta Ellis to New York with David Lee going to the Midwest. Here's some tasty tidbits of what Atma Brother #1 preferred to see instead:
This would be a great time to cut out the middle man, meaning the T-Wolves. Monta Ellis for David Lee (with some pieces to make the numbers work) would be a STEAL. The injury-prone, turnover-prone, tantrum-prone, low IQ-prone, selfish-prone Moped Ellis for a 20-12 big man with over 3.5 assists per game?
SIGN. ME. UP.
Could David Lee play Nellie-ball?
